David Patrick (Pat) Godwin (70) of Dunn, passed away peacefully at his residence, surrounded by family on August 30, 2020. He was a 30 year veteran of the Dunn Police Department and retired as Chief of Police in 2002 and also served as a US Marshall.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Holland Godwin; son Jonathan Godwin and wife, Wendy of Morehead City, NC; daughter, Hilliary Williams and husband, Daniel of Angier, NC; grandsons, Layton and Jackson Williams; and brother, Mike Godwin and wife, Pam of Spivey's Corner, NC. He had many nieces and nephews that he loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ermon and Christine Godwin of Spivey's Corner, NC (The Hollerin' Capital of the World).

There will be a private memorial service held at a later date.
